Celebrate the tiny victories

“Each of My children is a unique blend of temperament, giftedness, and life experiences. Something that is a baby step for you may be a giant step for another person, and vice versa. Only I know the difficulty or ease of each segment of your journey. Beware of trying to impress others by acting as if your giant steps are only baby ones. Do not judge others who hesitate, in trembling fear, before an act that would be easy for you. If each of My children would seek to please Me above all else, fear of others’ judgments would vanish, as would attempts to impress others. Focus your attention on the path just ahead of you and on the One who never leaves your side.“ - Jesus Calling Daily (September 25)

I have been thinking a lot recently about how it is extremely important to realize that something that you would consider easy could be something super difficult for another person. I never seem to know what to say when people ask me what I have been up to lately, because to them no matter what I say it probably sounds like I haven’t done much. It seems like everyone I know either got married, graduated college, or did something big this year while I look at myself and feel like I didn’t. But I think the hardest part is seeing the big amount of praises and congratulations that others receive when they accomplish something considered “big,” in this society. Now I am in no way looking for self-pity and trying to disregard what those people have done and I do believe those people deserve a big congratulations and all of that praise. But I just think that us as human beings need to try and celebrate the more smaller victories and things people accomplish as well.

As this year is coming to an end, I may not be able to say that I did any of those things this year but I can say I have survived and so can you. I stumbled upon this quote recently and thought that it describes exactly how I feel. So if you’re struggling remember you’re not alone and that there is always hope. P. S. celebrate the tiny victories.
