Say Something

In my Bible Study we have been recently reading this book called, "Bittersweet" by Shauna Niequist. This one chapter I read called Say Something really hit me. The author was talking about how it is better to say something than to not say anything. When a friend or someone you know is dealing with something in their life whether it's the death of a loved one, an illness, divorce, job loss, or any type of struggle someone is going through just say something.

I myself have found myself guilty of not saying anything for the fear of saying something impolite or not good enough. I have had many moments where I would think of someone and pray for them and hope they are doing well but I wouldn't ask them or tell them. It comes down to really just the fear of not knowing what to say and not fully being able to understand what someone is going through.

In Spring I remember when my dad was in the hospital and how in that time I quickly realized who seemed to actually care how I was doing and didn't. I can think of some friends who probably cared but were busy with their own lives to say anything to me. But here I am saying that I now believe that this is true. Having someone say something to me no matter what it is, is better than not having someone say anything.
